AEGIS Teams with HL7 International on Conformance Testing Program Pilot 1

As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline implementation of interoperability standards, Health Level Seven (HL7) International and (AEGIS) are proud to announce the pilot launch of a new Conformance Testing Program. The HL7 Conformance Testing Program, developed in partnership with AEGIS, helps healthcare IT developers speed time to market by providing a cost-effective platform for ongoing, iterative testing of conformance and interoperability with HL7 standards. The program helps get highly interoperable products to market quickly and cost-effectively by providing a robust environment for ongoing 24/7/365 testing.

The Conformance Testing Program leverages the game-changing technology and architecture of the AEGIS Developers Integration Lab (DIL). The DIL is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Testing as a Service (TaaS) open source testing solution for health information exchange gateway, interoperability, and compatibility testing. The DIL helps automate and execute test cases created by HL7, providing an easy-to-use system for performing conformance and interoperability tests against published HL7 specifications, standards, and profiles, including templates and implementation guides.

The entire HL7 community will benefit from this shared testing service, which can eventually be used to identify test cases that are sufficiently mature to become the basis for a certification program. Participating in this program takes the burden off of vendors to validate technical interoperability and offers them a major market differentiator. This effort also builds upon and accelerates consensus toward national standards, EHR certification criteria, and testing procedures for Meaningful Use Stage 2 and beyond.

“HL7 chose AEGIS as an industry leader in the testing of interoperability between Health Information Technology systems and HIEs,” stated Charles Jaffe, MD, CEO of HL7 International. “Going forward, HL7 anticipates using the patent-pending AEGIS Developers Integration Lab in testing each new or enhanced standard and specification.”
